Kimberly Lauren

Meet Kimberly Lauren

Your Retreat Host

I've spent nearly 20 years working inside the world of storytelling:

  • Magazine editor
  • Writing coach
  • Small-press publicist
  • Audiobook narrator
  • Mentor to hundreds of writers

I grew up in a blended family of 15 kids—so I turned to writing to get a word in.

I graduated from Lesley University with an MFA in Fiction and run Talk Wordy to Me, an online community of 15,000 book lovers.

I understand the emotional, personal, and structural challenges of writing a book because I've lived them and helped hundreds of writers move through them.

You are not too behind, too late, or too inexperienced.

You simply need space for your story and the support to hold you through the process of telling it.

I'm here to give that to you.

“It can be really intimidating to share work with others, but Kimberly creates a safe space. I always left our sessions feeling motivated and excited to implement what I had learned. She is an industry expert and offers a wealth of knowledge and resources.”

JENNIE CLEMENTS, rom-com writer

“I feel like I found my path. Kimberly helped me see my work in a whole new light. I can’t wait to dig back in.”

BEN SAVIO, essayist

“I just want to say thank you because I have friends who really want to write books, and they're so capable and qualified with Harvard and Oxford degrees, and yet they haven't. It is a tragedy. I have a book taking shape and coming to life. Thank you for that.”

STACIE PROCTOR, MEMOIRIST

“Not only is each piece better after receiving Kimberly's insight, but I believe I am a better writer after all the time she's spent helping me troubleshoot issues with my writing.”

EOWYN SCOTT, YA writer
